About Carol

Carol Rusinek

I was born and raised in northern Alberta in the Peace River country. As a child I enjoyed looking at the pictures my mother had made with her Brownie box camera. My father soon purchased a Kodak 620 camera, and as photo equipment and film advanced, Dad upgraded his camera. Family vacations had many "photo-ops", including a stop at every provincial and state sign across the country. Today I have all of my parents' antique cameras in my display cabinet.

My own interest in making images began with a Kodak Instamatic camera. The birth of your own child is accompanied by purchasing a new camera, and thus my portraiture lessons began. The years moved on and I had more time to pursue photography courses, practicing what I had learned while hiking in the Rockies and attending local events. I enjoy making still life images and searching the back roads of our country for photographic opportunities. For many years I used transparency film in my Canon cameras. Then the arrival of the digital age created new challenges for me - learning to capture pixels with new cameras and pursuing the Photoshop workspace. I am a member of the Photographic Society of America, Canadian Association for Photographic Art and Images Alberta Camera Club.

Welcome to my photo gallery. I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I did capturing it through my view finder. If you have a special interest in a certain image, please
